Climate Change

We publicly commit to global science-based targets to reduce Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions, in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Net Zero Pathway at Brongain Farm

Since 2020, OSI Food Solutions UK in conjunction with their partner Pickstock Telford has been working on opportunities to achieve the goal of Net Zero emissions at Brongain Farm by 2030. Beef makes up an exceptionally large part of our footprint in the UK, therefore we are working across our supply chain by focusing on different challenges within our scope 3 emissions to make progress.

The project “Net Zero Pathway” at Brongain Farm helped us to demonstrate emission reductions on farm using best practices and the latest technology. By using only commercially viable methods, we will be able to build a roadmap that other farms can implement. In this way we can engage our partners, especially farmers, by supporting them on their sustainability journey. It should be noted that the project has already shown quite positive results. Progress to date from a 2020 baseline is a reduction of emissions of 74%, with Carbon Trust verification for the years 2020 and 2021. In early 2025, we aim to verify our results from 2022 – 2024.

Measurements of emissions "Farm to Fork"

As part of OSI’s focus of reducing on-farm emissions, our aim is to improve the precision of emission data in each European country where we operate in. Ultimately, our aim is to have an on-farm carbon footprint of each farm delivering in our supply chain.

To achieve this, OSI is currently running a pilot project with all stakeholders along the value chain, which will deliver a product carbon footprint based on primary data from farm to fork, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in all production and processing stages. The goal is to be able to inform our customers about their climate impact and will also allow OSI to better understand our up- and downstream emissions and hence enable us to achieve our emissions reductions targets.

Cultivate Program

One of the main priorities of OSI is to co-operate and support the agricultural sector to ensure the wellbeing and economic viability of farmers. In July 2019, OSI introduced the Cultivate Standard as a recognised sustainable farm assurance program to guide farm management practices in Poland.

The standard is based on the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS) targets and guidelines. Participating farms have to complete regular on-farm audits. Currently 34,000 farms across Poland are certified.

Our approach to sustainability

We truly believe that acting as a responsible business – one which is fully committed to ensure that our sustainability priorities are taken into action- will contribute to lasting economic success. We need to actively address the challenges facing our industry and the world in which we live.
