Resource Conservation

We take our responsibility for the usage of natural resources very seriously.
Thus, we are constantly implementing new projects to conserve resources in everything that we do.

100 % Green Electricity

Due to our recent SBTi commitment to reduce 50.4% of our scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2032, OSI identified focus relevant areas. One of the biggest was the energy consumption in our sites. Currently we have 100% Green Electricity in 60% of our sites.

Energy Transmission Project

Another big part of our plan to reduce emissions in our sites is to increase energy efficiency. We start this by creating an action plan to reduce energy waste and improve energy recovery. Then we identify external partners and conduct energy assessments at the sites. We also take the chance to transfer the learnings from successful projects from one site to the rest.

Project Baseline - Emission Factors for Austria

The objective of the project is to determine the current emissions for cattle livestock in Austria and capture practices that already may have lower emissions than Global or European averages. This will be done by evaluating 19 environmental parameters from cattle fattening and dairy farms to determine the current situation (Baseline) and to derive detailed measures from it. 180 cattle fattening farms (bulls, heifers) and 364 dairy farms will be evaluated. The participating farms represent a representative sample of Austrian farms in terms of geographic distribution, feed base, housing system, and farm size. The project will be carried out together with other members of the Austrian cattle industry. The results will be used to correctly determined the measures necessary to lower emissions of Austrian farmers.

Our approach to sustainability

We truly believe that acting as a responsible business – one which is fully committed to ensure that our sustainability priorities are taken into action- will contribute to lasting economic success. We need to actively address the challenges facing our industry and the world in which we live.
